Home sweet home. After 20 months away Tunnel Vision is home for at least a year. We will spend the next year repairing and doing those little jobs that have mounted up over the last 2 years. Will also be on the road a bit with a trip back to Cape York by 4WD. then get TV ready for a 2017 year in Tasmania. Merry Christmas to all and safe sailing (or motoring)

Lucky to get a berth in Tin Can for a week while the next lot of SE blows itself out. Will head home on Friday and come back after the weather improves to finally bring Tunnel Vision home. She hasn't seen home for 21months.

Notes Re- Anchorage:Can't get much better

Spent last night at Turkey Island. Was a good spot in NNE so had a good night sleep. Good not to have to get up a 3am. Had a run around in the tinny in the morning with Roger and Julie to show them a little of Fraser Island. Moved on to Garrys Anchorage as the tide flooded and will spend a few days here to and see what the weather does. Strong SE predicted till early next week.

Never made it to Pancake as planned. 20 plus kts of NNE put an end to that plan. Called in here to sit for the night. Roger and Julie coming tonight for a feed of mackeral I caught today. Good run down through the Narrows today . Had the tide with us and a perfect high tide at 10.30am.

Can almost smell the smog of Brisbane from here. A comfortable day from Prudhoe to here. Had to tuck in very close behind headland to get out of the worst of the swell. NNE blowing and sitting stern on to a very slight swell so looks light a good night ahead.

Not on my list of favourite anchorages. Had to anchor in 13met and rocks everywhere. Current held us with a mild swell so had a reasonable sleep. Pretty place with fish everywhere. Rolled a bit when the tide changed.

Left beautiful Magnetic Island at 11.30 pm on Sunday night after a few hours sleep. BOM predicted SE winds at 5-10 but we got NNE at 15-20. Not Happy BOM!!!
Pulled in behind Cape Bowling Green for a few hours and caught another 2 hours shuteye. Winds eased so we made a run for the Whitsundays. Ahh the smell of burning diesel. Stopped at Middle Island for a late lunch. Caught up with Thalassa and Kia Orana for happy hour at Grassy Island. Total distance of 135nm made it a big day. Left Grassy at 5am for the trip to Prudhoe Is Photos are Thalassa and Kia Orana as we left the anchorage at sunrise.

Good run down from Mourilyan to here in Northerlies. Mostly had 10 to 15knt with some areas up to 20kts. Quite OK though in a following sea. Averaged nearly 9kts. Caught 2 Mack Tuna and one Spanish Mackerel. Marina here is excellent and the facilities are superb. New owner is very helpful and I would certainly come here again. Have booked in for a week as the forecast is for strong SE for the next 7 days at least.

Arrived here to wait for an outgoing tide and change in wind. Nice part of the world and will come back by road next year. Strong tidal flow in passage up to 5kts and it doesn't change direction till 2 hours after the tide. Not uncommon up here. Next stop is Indian Bay below Cape Grenville.

Happy to be here at Seisia with about 10 other traveling boats. Most of whom are heading back down the Qld coast. Winch parts due here on Wednesday so will boost the local economy with regular trips to the fishing club. Nice burgers and the beer is cold.

Left Gove at 2.40pm on Wednesday after a quick trip into Nhulumbuy for groceries. Arrived here at Cullen Point at 5am Friday. 38 hours to cross the gulf. Thursday was quite uncomfortable but we made it in one piece.
Leaving to head to Seisia this afternoon and expect to be there by 10pm tonight.
That damm Gremlin is back. Went to pull the anchor up when we were leaving Gove and the gearbox stripped its gears. Spent the morning organising to have a new winch flown into Bamaga by Wednesday next week. Not easy pulling that anchor up by hand!!
